Reimagining the Everyday Pack: The Trainer Bag Story

For some, a backpack is more than just a vessel for carrying gear—it’s an extension of the body. A good pack should feel comfortable and meet the specific demands of daily life. Yet, we felt that the nature of a crowded market often pushes "one-size-fits-all" solutions, sacrificing intention for versatility. We believe a pack should be designed with purpose.

The Trainer Bag was created to solve a simple problem: the need for a collapsible, frameless pack specifically for carrying lightweight items in high volume. Whether for quick office runs or trips to the gym, we found that existing bags overcomplicated the task. Inspired by this gap, we developed the Trainer Bag as a foldable, ultra-light alternative. It carries essentials—like jackets, shoes, and towels—without unnecessary weight or bulk. Constructed from the same two-tone fabric as our Reversible Wing Tarps, the Trainer Bag embodies the PEOS spirit of innovation while remaining versatile and functional.

The frameless nature of the Trainer Bag enables it to fold down to a fraction of its original size, though achieving this wasn’t straightforward. Finding balance between rigid materials and foldability was easier said than done, and often lead to unexpected results. To further enhance versatility, we are working hard to develop accessories to complement the Trainer Bag, a continuous push to challenge its current form and function.

Despite its refined outcome, the development of the Trainer Bag wasn’t without its challenges—one of the biggest being the reinterpretation of the traditional backpack. Should we keep pockets? Are zippers necessary? These questions sparked a deeper reflection on what truly matters in a lightweight, high-volume pack. It wasn’t just about stripping down for simplicity but about refining functionality. Balancing these elements proved difficult, but ultimately led to a design focused on purpose and streamlined efficiency.

The Trainer Bag is more than a solution to a single problem—it’s an invitation to reimagine the conventional pack and embrace a more intentional design. We hope you enjoy using this pack as much as we enjoyed making it.
